Barber Course
BBI offers 3 programs as follows:
Class A Barber (1000 hrs)
This course is for those wanting to start your barber career without any prior experience.
Full-time – 35 hrs per week
Part-time – 17.5 hrs per week
Cosmetology to Class A Barber Crossover (300 hrs)
This course is for those with a current Cosmetology License and wanting to add Barber License.
Full-time – 25 hrs per week
Part-time – 12.5 hrs per week
Student Barber Instructor w/ 1 year experience (500 hrs)
This course is for those with a current Barber License and wanting to become a Barber Instructor. 1 year experience as a practicing barber is required to enroll in this class.
Full-time – 35 hrs per week
Part-time – 17.5 hrs per week
Course Description
Barber Course is a training program that is a study of all areas of Barbering and its Related Sciences designed for those interested in the field of barbering or for a trained cosmetologist for licensure as a Class A Barber.

Required Kit
All students must have a BBI barber kit which is included in the full cost of tuition. Kits are designed to fit each program needs.
Students enrolled in the Student Barber Instructor will not require any kits and is not included in the tuition.
Format
The teaching format combines:
Theory – lectures and discussion
Practical – demonstrations and hands-on practices
BBI offers a wide range of support materials that include, but are not limited to: videos, guest speakers, field trips, competitions and break out interactive sessions.
Evaluation
The student is evaluated throughout the course to ensure successful completion of the course. Grades will include exams, performance on the clinical floor, participation and attendance. Attendance is taken daily and evaluation are given each month.
Grading Scale
90% to 100% Excellent
80% to 89% Very Good
70% to 79% Satisfactory
69% or below Unsatisfactory – Not passing
Any student receiving a grade of 69% or below in any subject will be put on probation and may be required to retake the subject. BBI may assess additional fee if the student is required to retake the subject. Retakes are at the discretion of the instructor and on the space availability.
