Cosmetology Crossover to Class A Barber Program – 300 Hours
The Cross Over Barber Course is a training program that is a continuing study of all areas of Barbering and its Related Sciences designed for a trained cosmetologist for licensure as a Class A Barber.

All students must have a BBI barber kit, which must be purchased through BBI before the start of first class. The kit will be distributed during orientation.
BBI kit include the following items:
- Mannequin Male Head w/ beard
- Dovo Shavette straight razor with both long and short cartridge
- Mercur long handled safety razor
- Long and short blades for the razors
- Shave brush
- Electric Shaver
- Neck duster
- Clipper guards – all sizes
- Clipper oil
- 1 pack of 10 latex gloves
- 2 Flat top combs (Handle comb)
- Styling combs – 12 to include 6 styling, 6 taper combs
- Styling mirror
- Talc powder
- Styptic stick or powder
- BBI Rolling Case
In addition, all students must have their own cutting and texturizing shears. These items may also be purchased at the BBI store.
Courses are offered 8 times each calendar year. Two full time sessions are offered each quarter, morning and evening session. All courses must be completed within 3 months unless special arrangement has been made with BBI admission.
Courses are offered 4 times each calendar year. Two part time sessions are offered twice per year, morning and evening session. All courses must be completed within 6 months unless special arrangement has been made with BBI admission.
The teaching format combines:
Theory – lectures and discussion
Practical – demonstrations and hands-on practices
BBI offers a wide range of support materials that include, but are not limited to: videos, guest speakers, field trips, competitions and break out interactive sessions.
The student is evaluated throughout the course to ensure successful completion of the course. Grades will include exams, performance on the clinical floor, participation and attendance. Attendance is taken daily and evaluation are given each month.
90% to 100% Excellent
80% to 89% Very Good
70% to 79% Satisfactory
69% or below Unsatisfactory – Not passing
Any student receiving a grade of 69% or below in any subject will be put on probation and may be required to retake the subject. BBI may assess additional fee if the student is required to retake the subject. Retakes are at the discretion of the instructor and on the space availability.
